@1zhw+19W1IHh3 the Netherlands in Europe. 560 in total, GTS (246), GBS(127), Global Markets (the rest). I am within GBS. No information yet, more will be known end of March. This one won't be voluntary.
If you really know the info please share if Systems BU are including, ,many if us are getting resumes ready and starting to look outside but if systems is included we need to act faster , it’s a balancing act trying to do the right timing to match family needs but if we need to move faster will do
@1nad What country and division are you in?
Yes it is ongoing and depends per country. In my country it was anounced in November and last week we've gotten the announcements, it's happening, starting end of march, begin of april and RA must be finshed before end of q2. It will be a 25% reduction. Numbers are known per division and available on intranet.
Is water wet?
The real question to be asking is, has IBM changed their focus? Most projects within IBM have a 36 month scale up implementation, to decision point (do we keep funding it, or scale it back). If IBM decides to not fund the operation going forward (Watson Health is a perfect example), it usually takes them 24-36 months to phase it out. Multi billion dollar investments are not light switches that are either off or on, but rather funding events that are either phasing up, or phasing down. IBM’s 4 billion restructuring is just IBM’s decision to scale back certain parts of the operation. The better question to ask is does IBM value the current operation that you are working on. If not, you should expect layoffs until IBM phases that operation out. Please note AK has already told you where his emphasis is at (AI/Hybrid Cloud/Enterprise/Redhat Modernization) If your projects don’t interlink with these 4 focus areas, you should be expecting layoffs in your future. All of GTS, 1/2 of GBS, Power and Storage from Systems, and non Redhat IBM legacy cloud products from Cognitive seem to be in the cross hairs right now. Good luck to all as the next year will bring on average 1000-1500 layoffs or spin-offs per week.
This is the titanic. The question is are you Ismay or the musicians?
Given the 4 billion of 2021 restructuring to be done, it will be a rare week that IBM doesn’t experience a layoff somewhere within IBM. The sad part is it has become the norm instead of the exception. It’s death by 1000 cuts
@krb+19W1IHh3 Last RA was on a Monday March 1 so no day is safe.
GTS is still operating with extreme bloat so a mass RA is needed.
Irritable Bowel Movement = IBM
Next Thursday , another round . IBM always pink slips you on Thursday so you can have time over the weekend to think about it . IBM is in trouble folks , laying off people is part of their strategy because they lost the respect for employees and we will never respect them . 100,000 people cut , mostly older folks .... Think about that ..
Can confirm
