Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

RIF in Oracle today

I got notice of being RIF's by Mar 31 (employment termination date). If you were on the list, you probably got told today as well. Don't worry, economy is picking up lot of opportunities outside!

From my experience in the US, there have been two types of RIFs:
  1. The good kind, where someone else gets RIFed
  2. The bad kind, where YOU get RIFed

Must not have been that big of a RIF if all the responses do is talk about the method of departure.

The best is yet to come!

From my experience in the US, there have been two types of RIFs:
(1) Immediate departure - Manager calls and you're walked out the door.
(2) Timed departure - Manager informs you of pending termination and you have xx days (30 days as an example) to find another job within company.

100% false: "They usually give you notice the morning of and then you need to GTFO by COB that same day."
True if terminated for cause but that is different. RIF'd folks are given time to find an internal job. You lose all access except taleo and email COB. Then on term date you lose it all.

Keep your mouth shut if you didn’t know anything.

Trust anyone here who has left Oracle … except for you gaggle of way-past-your-pull-date Sun hardware and software riff-raff losers.

+1
Agreed. They still think oracle and bad, overpriced hardware still matter.

with a company that is owned and run by an out of touch, octogenarian, arrogant, half-senile megalomaniac.

You forgot “sick”, “lying”, “narcissistic “, and ugly.

RIFs in other countries are NOT like RIFs in the US.

For everyone else, it is 100% unanimous that your next job on the outside is far better, pays more, is more current/modern skill set, and with a company that is owned and run by an out of touch, octogenarian, arrogant, half-senile megalomaniac.

If I remember, the Ax-Man said that layoffs would be resuming a few days after earnings, when the results and imperatives on layoff totals were rolled down from on high.

Liar! They usually give you notice the morning of and then you need to GTFO by COB that same day.

It's the new kinder, gentler Oracle. ;-)
