Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I wish I got laid off...

but instead I stayed in this joke of a company.

Morality is zero, I have absolutely no will to do anything, and I have more work to do than ever.
Those who got laid off actually took a short term loss for a long term gain!

My biggest wish is that one of the dozens of job applications I sent out goes well and that I leave here before the summer, when they will surely cut relentlessly again, and probably even positions that are very necessary.

Got my unemployment benefit. 11K for six months. That is not enough to survive even if cut out all my expenses.

Stay in your job. Being laid off does not pay.

No jobs out there. Yes plenty of jobs. You are correct. Just saw one posted at regular analyst level about 12 hours ago. Already has 112 applicants. 50% of the applicants have more than 20 years experience.

Lot of of jobs but you forget even more applicants.

I saw a VP job super high level at a big company that I am not even close of qualifying. In 3 weeks it had 266 applicants.

The problem is lots of layoffs at many many other companies due to Covid and remote work.

You do not want to be laid off now. Maybe in another 9 months. I applied to 300 jobs so far and I got one 20 minute interview and that is it. Same resume and approach I did years ago that had no problem at all getting tons of interviews or hits.

You have folks laid off. Folks looking to change jobs. Folks working remote in another state at lower salary.

The good news is I do not work at Centene anymore. And that is it.

Don't listen to what people say about there being "no jobs out there." There are! I quit after 5 months because my team was so hellacious and my manager was dumber than a doornail! Fortunately, I am in a position to do so. Life is short. If you are in a position to do so, leave. They'll lie to you about stability and severance. Or stay, and milk it for all it's worth. Do what's right for you! The dental and vision subsidiary of Centene that I worked for was the most corrupt, dishonest and dysfunctional Communications team that I ever worked for. My manager was so desperate to keep me that it was pathetic. She was totally unqualified and my "disabled" coworker who speaks with a voicebox (Really?!?) to the point where I couldn't understand her nor could others on the larger internal team. What a joke! I can honestly say that I think my manager bought her MBA certificate, because she was so dumb and disorganized that it was TRAGIC!!! Karma will come, but you are better than this! Keep looking with your head held high.

To the post below about the management team in Florida....you are dead on! I couldn't agree with you more....they are a bunch of lazy a**holes who do nothing all day and waste company time.

Boy do I wish I was laid off as well. All management here in Florida do , is play games like Bingo, and host a million worthless zoom meetings a month, and bark orders ,and spit bs out of their mouths.

Wish you the best of luck! I was also laid off, and trust me, it was out of spite, they don’t know how much of a favor they did for me. I’m so glad I no longer have to deal with malicious, conniving leadership. Oh and I had tons of work and all they did was load it on top of others work load. So I’m honestly happy I was laid off, severance pay, unemployment and additional unemployment not having to stress over work load or nasty supervisors is a blessing!

Best of luck to you in your job search. I was part of the layoff and have heard that my former department is a jumbled mess as they let go of several of us that carried the load. I'm sure that is the same story in other departments as well. The plan clearly was not well thought out. And, yes, it seems probable that once Magellan is acquired, job cuts are inevitable, so planning ahead is a wise move. I feel confident that you'll find a company that values their employees as will I....stay strong.
