Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This would be nice

Since attrition is at an all-time high (I'm basing this on my team and what I've read here,) what are the chances there'll be no need for layoffs any time soon? I know it's all about who's leaving (low-paid vs. high-paid employees) but it looks like we're losing people from both groups, which means even that factor is covered. Is this a possibility or am I an id–t for even thinking it?

No, you are not an idi0t for asking.
But the answer not to your liking.
US skills that can be suborned to lower pay areas is the goal.
Engineers, scientists, IT, accounting types - it has proven successful.

If you are turning a knob somewhere, you'll be ok. Though.

I've had a couple senior managers tell me expect 8% NSI again for my team this year. We don't officially find out until April 1st but that's the going rumor. Not sure if that amounts to the layoff you're talking about but we're definitely getting leaner this year regardless. Agree with you 100% though, would sure be nice to NOT get leaner. We've had high attrition at our site, almost too lean now and not allowed to hire.

kco+19Tn0c7h - is that 20% relative to where we are now? I.e. an additional 20% of PIP?

Goal is a reduction by 20% YE2022. There will be more leaving.

For anyone considering a long term career with ExxonMobil, think again. April 1 will bring many, many surprises. Think about the two newly added members of the Board and pay attention to the announcements. This company is headed in the wrong direction.
