Someone asked a great question, how much better / worse are Intel managers compared to managers of other companies in the same industry? I can only say that it is obvious that they can be much better. In the previous company I worked for, they were not ideal, not gonna lie, but it seems to me that they were much better than ours.

As someone who has bounced around between a few companies to further my career, I would say Intel managers are worse than industry average. This is especially noticeable among the mid-level managers, which is concerning since they could be the future leaders of the company.
Of course, your mileage may vary. You can always land in a good Intel group or encounter toxic managers somewhere else. But on average, Intel managers seem to have less understanding of the projects in their org and more obsession with politics and making themselves look good. To me, that’s a dysfunctional way to run an engineering firm and has led to many of the problems Intel has today.

They are competent in different ways, like, to survive and stay in their positions.
My experience with intel managers and above is they are grossly incompetent. My immediate manager had no clue what he was doing. His only focus was getting reqs approved to increase his empire while having nothing to do. His boss was even more incompetent and his boss was even worse. We had 300 people doing a project that needed 50 at the most.
In one year I worked on five projects. All of the started and canceled. I got pretty good at archiving data but for actually anything not so good. There were people there that had been there for ten years and never taped out a product.
Some first-line managers are technical enough to be team leads, but no need for them to be a manager.
Intel must not fall lest it unleashes its managers to collapse the global economy
Intel may have mediocre managers, but the bigger problem is it has far too many of them. This creates enormous inefficencies.
