Is anyone still buying over-priced books at this place?
They never looked out for their employees and when they saw an easy opportunity, they threw them out like the stale old food they serve in their cafes. If you're still working for this failing company, #1, you're lazy and/or pathetic, #2, you can't find something better with more or the same pay and benefits, #3 you're attracted to be being in abusive stressed environment with sadistic upper management.
Is it worth working for corporations that treat every employee like trash that can be discarded at any time?

A pandemic and BN , to save money, has their minimum wage part time kids cleaning the toilets, sinks you use and the cafe you eat food from.
And most of them are not doing it .
I won’t.
I don’t get paid enough to clean bathrooms during this virus outbreak.
I know co workers aren’t , either.
I , and several other Booksellers will not use the bathrooms here or order anything from the cafe.
I’ve p**d behind the dumpster in an emergency or I just go to a store next door that still have professional cleaners.
Customer here. We always enjoy going to the Ventura California B&N. Employees are very helpful and nice and the store is always stocked and clean
Then make sure to thank a Bookseller, NOT the managers. It’s the minimum wage Bookseller cleaning the floors and the bathrooms because BN stopped using professional cleaners.

Haven’t shopped BN for 4 years now. Don’t miss it at all ! Better prices at Amazon.
@1nwa I spent 30 plus years in retail. I know what it's like. I endured 2 store closings. Whenever I have the opportunity to acknowledge and compliment good retail employees I do so. That's why I complimented the employees at the Ventura California B&N store.
@afm Wow! I compliment a store and it's employees and you nuts. Sad
It is sad. Just letting you know the reality.

Dear customer
Employee here.
The helpful employee who puts books out AND cleans the toilets are treated horribly by management. Except for store management we get only a few hours a week and can’t afford to get sick. We have no insurance. After you leave we get yelled at if you didn’t buy a membership. After you leave , if not enough other people come in, we get sent home early. So, I only get 3 hours ,at minimum wage, for the day.
