Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Gulfstream Engineering isn’t what it used to be

I’ve been working in aircraft development for many decades including many years in gulfstream engineering. The changes I’ve seen during the past year and a half in gulfstream engineering are very troubling and have me feeling dismayed and very concerned for the company’s future. During the past year and a half, gulfstream has been commiting engineering s–c-de on itself. Walking hundreds and hundreds of highly skilled highly knowledge hard-working talent out the door, and replacing them with less experienced people just promoted and loyal to the new engineering regime. The new engineering management is much like a H-tler youth, goose-stepping in unison with the new tyranny. They don’t care about real work or ingenuity or years of company dedication. All they seem to value is their image and creating the illusion of smart work. The company has just updated their whole product line so they can get away with this self inflicted damage for a while but the drastically reduced engineering capability and work ethic is going to eventually show in a very bad way. Not a good company to be in for the years ahead.

This applies to several departments at Gulfstream. People getting laid off, retiring, or finding new employment opportunities but are not getting replaced. This is a numbers driven company as there are many companies that follow this path. However you are right about losing talent. If too much talent is lost, it will hurt the quality and image of Gulfstream and their products over time. Too much leaning out may come back to haunt them in the future.

Wouldn’t worry too much about it. With the amount of management at GAC, I’m sure there’s enough family and friends to backfill all those positions.
