I accepted a position with the company after a lengthy process. Can anyone tell me what I can expect from Mattel as a whole? How is the morale and are layoffs frequent or far and in between? Is employee engagement encouraged and what’s work/life balance like? I would like honest feedback please. Thank you.

Mattel sucks. You’ve Swallowed the Kool-Aid they force-fed you in orientation. You have two options. First option, quit and cut your losses(best case scenario). Option two, stay with Mattel and experience every negative comment on this board(most likely option).
- S. Come back any time! You will get a good laugh from the mo--ns who hate negative comments about Mattel yet they keep visiting this website. 😝
I think the worst part of working at Mattel is watching all the older, experienced employees who once represented a sort of mentor class of seasoned veterans slowly but surly be laid off and replaced with early-20-somethings with zero experience.
I’m happy with my job. Each group is different though.
Also really wouldn’t be asking here. Most come here to b–ch.
You can look forward to a lot of talk about how much you're valued as you are s—ed dry of all your creativity and energy and your boss takes credit for your work. Then you can enjoy people around you getting laid off and all their work coming to you. Then, if you question anything or ask for a raise or promotion, you will be let go, too. Have fun.
I second the opinion of the previous commenter.
- You didn’t bother doing this research prior to accepting the position?
- *to, not “too”
Hopefully you’re not a copywriter.
Just keep your mouth shut and always be pleasant to your superior. If you do this, you will survive a long career at Mattel.
You're asking these questions after you got hired? You've got to be kidding.
Once the pandemic is over you can look forward to many, many, many layoffs. That's about it.
