The Hartford is hiring remote positions!

I've worked for UHG for 6 years... the management is the absolute worst in the industry! They hire people to manage a department that they have absolutely no knowledge about and they try to tell you how to do your job. It's a joke! I would stay far away from UHG if you can!

I read all the comments and I’ve spent 20 years here. I have gone from a 26 up to a 29 and even down to a 28 to save myself. I agree with most on this thread. Take the job, do your best, update your skills and resume. Because that’s how you advance in life. I think it’s a great opportunity and you should be thrilled and excited. Do your very best always and make mental notes of what motivates you. Learn that and the. You’ll be more confident in your moves. Best of luck.

Like others said before, work the job to learn as much as you can while you can watch for other jobs. You can decide to stay or go after a while...listen to your gut and weigh that against your other life commitments. A retail worker typically makes $11/hr and has to show up at the store to do physical work and deal with customers inside the store. This job sounds better than the retail worker as a start.

This is certainly a very tough climate to work in but I don’t understand why y’all can’t extend a little kindness to the OP who clearly needs a job and has already accepted an offer.

pretty sure the OP wasn't even talking about grade level but the size of the group of new hires. But whatever always an opportunity for someone to act like a jerk.

The person referencing the 25 is right whether people like the opinion or not. It’s just the truth and people at UHC like rose colored glasses.

This sounds like a nice, easy, low profile position. I’d pursue it without concern.

I worked myself around the organization for 17 years and ended my career at a GL 28. It was not worth it. Choose your roles wisely

Congratulations on your new role! One strategy I've used during my career is to never stop looking for another role. I don't regard this as a sign of dissatisfaction with a role or an employer. Instead, this forces me to keep updating my resume, be aware of other roles both inside and outside your current employer, and to keep your interviewing skills sharp. I would try to have at least one interview with an outside firm each quarter. Again, keep your interviewing skills sharp for the day when you might be let go or you decide that you have outgrown your current role and are ready to move on. Good luck!

A 25 is a low man on the totem poll job. You are safe because you don’t matter

Medicare requires that customer service jobs that call senior citizens be onshore so you won't have to worry about your job going overseas.

Fully remote is rare for these types of roles so if that’s appealing to you I would give it a try here!

Just know that your metrics will be closely monitored and you’ll be on the phone all day everyday and they’ll dictate your break times etc.

They offshore alot but customer service jobs remotely are about the easiest to transition between companies and industries. You could easily go to another insurer bank cable company whatever. Try it out and do your best. You can move up at uhg after a yr or two.

I haven't done this role but sat next to someone who did. It seemed like an ok job. You have to repeat yourself a lot and sometimes explain things verrrrry slowly. UHG has issues as you can see on this board, but there are a lot of good things. I'd rather be in a job like this at UHG right now than middle management as far as job security goes.
