The pride has gone into the toilet bowl, while Shell is kicking our a– and paying their employees better too.

We have used balance sheets for short term gains (dividends) instead of long term investments. Decline of an empire, by fiddling Nero (named DW).

I worked nearly 40 years in XOM. Went thru 6 booms and 6 busts (bust defined as a 50% drop in oil price from previous high). Went through Valdez and mobil merger and and many layoffs and cut the bottom 10%. XOM is a great company BECAUSE it survived nearly 170 years. Culture has changed and morphed slowly. BUT IT HAS CHANGED. look at women in the oil business...massive change from 40 yeas ago. Look at inclusive/diversity issues (and political correctness). Flexibility policies. etc. Company will respond to the market and will pay competitive salaries with workplace conditions necessary to run the business. Pay the dividend and keep costs down. DEMAND EXCELLENCE from EVERY EMPLOYEE or find someone else to do their job (probably someone in India, KL, or BA), who is not from an ENTITLED CULTURE

Who would have thought that lying to the public and bankrolling a campaign to deny, obfuscate, and delay action on climate change would irreparably tarnish our reputation?

@qmh+19PLbyIp The company’s public reputation never truly recovered after the Valdez. That also marked the end of Exxon trusting it’s employees.

Pride is all surrounded and centered to DW and his helpless comrades! The slogan has changed from "Put a Tiger in a Tank" to arrogant slogans like, "WeAreExxonMobil".

What happened to all those commercials in the 70s that asked people to “Put a Tiger in your Tank?” People were in such awe of Exxon that they would drive around with tiger tails hanging out of their gas cap doors. Where has the pride gone?
