Allstate is overplaying their hand with new direct models

The two new models Glenn and the “gang” are pushing:

  1. Captive sales agents, working a–, selling only P&C, with no renewals. The agents are responsible for paying for their own leads, insurance and equipment rental. 2500 by end of 2021are what’s been promised!

MAJORITY of people (many with barely a pulse) see what a c-ap opportunity this is and recruiters that have made thousands of calls hear the same feedback “wait I’m not paid during my education period” “I need to buy my own leads I cant afford $100 a week” “I can’t pay my rent/mortgage I can’t wait 60 days to start MAYBE making money”

  1. Market sales agents working as W-2’s with a small base (37k) plus commissions. They can sell all lines related to L&H/P&C with renewals.

The feedback from candidates isn’t much better “So you want me to run a virtual agency by myself for $18.50 an hour and possibly make commission when?” “You want me to write how many policies a month, no thanks”

Allstate “leaders” when given the feedback state “sell the company, sell the brand Allstate” OR “sell the flexibility” This place is doomed, treat your money making EAs like garbage by trying to build a less then fair direct model that is FALLING flat on its FACE! Let’s hope the “leaders” who committed to these models get fired and shown the door 🚪

It works for Geico because they have low rates. The high retention rate that ALL has milked is mostly due to local agents who know that retaining business is what pays the bills, so they focus on service. This direct model will not work with ALL pricing which is double in some markets.
The only thing ALL has left is reputation which is being destroyed at the fastest rate imaginable for Fortune 100 company.

GEICO may have had experienced and knowledgeable people to deploy this model unlike Allstate. GEICO may have thought people would want to work there because of the pay, benefits etc. Allstate foolishly relies on their name and bought awards. The working Joe doesn’t give a damn about a name and what you can potentially earn, they need to pay their bills NOW!

It works for GEICO and has for decades. Truth is you don't actually need local salespeople to run a successful insurance business. Just a lizard mascot will do, and you'll save a ton of overhead.
