Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Elevated CAP.

Anyone been on this program?
How did it turn out?
It feels surreal when you are not even 100 day in the new organization 😕

Corrupt leaders use CAP without progressive discipline or imply they had. Often these are lifers in management protecting their position. Don’t want to work. Don’t want to be challenged when you have questions.

HR violates employment law.

The internal dispute is a joke

Think of a lay off as employee alumni

Why did you need the approval, validation and acceptance of others-including bosses, companies, etc.? what did that say about you?

Wow! "elevate CAP". Unreal. Gone in @ month. Written up by the 'school teacher'/employee boss womyn/man who needs to justify their existence. Sad.

Every time someone has told me they are on an elevated cap they are gone within the month.

The boss girls and boys are something else. They actually think they "own" the company when in fact they're just employees too-useful id–ts. Clowns all. Living for someone else's dream.

I had a boss give me a CAP the day after I was offered another position, three grades higher and $5000 salary increase... LMFAO. She was targeting me... I had the last laugh.

Thank you for explaining what that "CAP" term meant. It's like we're in elementary school-a "write up"? We're adults, we got a bad grade from the teacher and need to be reprimanded? And then they wonder why teammates leave left and right/revolving door.

CAP is a Corrective Action Plan. Aka, it's a warning (write up) given through HR, that could possibly lead to termination.
Never heard of an elevated CAP.

What exactly is a "CAP"?

The whole "no corporate hierarchy" blather with the organizational chart sounds like, "we don't give promotions but we still want you to work as if you believe you can get one."

Using cap or elevated cap is a bit dangerous for a company IF you can document abuses within your area that could include age discrimination, racism, gender discrimination, and other protected classes. Also if you know of any unethical behavior, that should be reported. Depending upon the information and how much you can prove, they will not touch you. Termination of employee for the above will have HR opened up to investigations externally.

Otherwise, they use the cap/elevated cap to not pay bonus, demote you, etc.

Knowing something like the company denied legit claims or keep revenue that was overpaid means you can state whistleblower status to HR.

Basically, you are going to get fired. Unless again, you have dirt. Good solid dirt.

I've never heard this term before. What is an "elevated CAP"?

Corporate never cares...period! No wonder why people nowadays switch jobs continually in the US.

Do NOT leave on your own. Let them lay you off. Then collect unemployment for as long as you can. The company's unemployment fees will go up for them, who cares? You're there to screw them bc they do not care about us, the workers. They never did. It's a game. Play the game.

They want you out and to quit. Don’t quit. You won’t get unemployment. Make it as miserable for them by staying to collect unemployment. Don’t Quit! Get unemployment no matter how terrible it is. It will end and you will have unemployment to fall back on so you can find a better job. Remember, It’s not you. This is a horrible company to work for with bad leadership.

If they're making billions and billions in profit each year, how and why are they still laying off team members?

I think pretty much every large area / dept is given cost savings targets. Could be a million or higher. That means layoffs and doing more with less. All levels of staff, though they get more bang for their buck by dumping higher paid people of course.

If your manager is telling you there will be downsizing, why would you be surprised or unprepared? Per this job board and history, it sounds like the organization does layoffs all the time. Why would you be concerned at this point?

As far as an elevated cap. Some employees pass thru and some don't. Some people on this thread have reported being called in and terminated without any warning or cap, why would you complain if your manager is giving you a chance to correct whatever the issue is before they considering termination?

To the person who wrote: "recently told that we would be downsizing and since been left in the dark. It all seems sketchy and has caused unnecessary stress on a majority of us-specially since they can’t/won’t answer our questions."

Nope, not unnecessary stress....sounds like you're department was told of downsizing....thats real stress....start preparing the best you can. If someone is telling employees this...its imminent at some point (wouldn't it be cruel to scare employees spreading something like this if it weren't true...isn't their a "assume positive intent" docterine at the company).

As far as a cap.....every situation is different....some situations resolve and others don't. All you can do is do your job, keep your mind focused on the task and apply for backup jobs in case it doesn't work out and you get no bonus or lose your job without severance. A cap is very stressful if you let it consume you....life is short focus on positive.

How were /was that corporation hit "hard". They had billions in profit each quarter? That's reality. Any "hardness" was and is simply more corporate propaganda.

Its rather unnerving when you witness others in your department who have been given an easier niche with job assignments because of supervisory favoritism. Its a toxic codependent environment. Hold your head high, don't let this bring you down.

Can they do this to a whole department? We were hit hard by the pandemic and recently told that we would be downsizing and since been left in the dark. It all seems sketchy and has caused unnecessary stress on a majority of us-specially since they can’t/won’t answer our questions.

I’m sorry this happened to me to, it’s a way to get you out of the organization without any severance or compensation. You should concentrate your efforts on finding a new job. Do not quit or you will not receive unemployment. Do the bare minimum knowing nothing you do will have you survive at UHG. Best of luck and keep your head held high it’s not a reflection on you it is all about them!
