The ones that were “saved” are actually the ones that got the shaft. I have not spoken to one person impacted by the lay offs that are not now happier and healthier after being laid off. Even with having to look for a new job and budget their severance and unemployment they are happier.

Post ID @qvi+19LwCvLn. I know all this and also I haven’t heard anyone say they are in worse position now but i am still struggling with anxiety. Other people’s stories are really encouraging for me to leave here, but still, there is a great deal of uncertainty and fear of starting from scratch.

Getting thrown the RIF was the best. Never would have willingly left, but absolutely ashamed at the things I did for my salary. Find a company that aligns with your moral beliefs, or at least a job that you can switch companies easily and still make the same pay (trade craft).
If you need some time to think about what that looks like, and you’re too stressed to be able to even begin to think about it, that’s what a therapist and STD leave are for. Treat yo self to the self care that you have undoubtedly earned after years of punching the clock loyally.
No job is forever. Just act like that and slack off. Ultimately it's out of your control for the most part. Just enjoy the ride and work only as hard as you need to without getting hassled. Find short cuts, workarounds and ways to make your life easier. Don't break your back.
