Hi there, SuperviseTrashMaster here with some stunning news! I'm quitting! After 5 long years of feeling unappreciated and stepped on, and stupidly taking the SMIT position, I've had enough of it. It's not even the customers at this point, it's the colleagues. I'm waiting on confirmation from another job before I put in my two weeks, but I have a question. I have never quit a job before of this magnitude, last job I quit was McDonald's when I was 16.

Do I need to contact HR about resigning along with my direct manager? Or just put in a resignation letter with my manager?

Didnt say they were an smit for 5 years. You do seem like a cvs maximalist. Enjoy your dead job loser

5 yrs of being a smit! Wonder who is the problem?

Fluff it up with how you greatly appreciated your tenure and how you love the company, the co-workers, etc. When asked why your are leaving, smile and say "I think it's better".
So officially you have paper showing you love them, good for future reference, never burn a bridge, etc.

Just type up a letter stating your last day of employment, thank them for the opportunity, and give it to your manager.
