Who is to blame for Riverbed having zero innovations? No wonder there isn't any innovation, all those innovative and talented people are either driven out of here or have left on their own. I believe there are still those who have good ideas, but no one is interested to hear them. Sometimes I am ashamed to be part of this company that has such bad management.

Riverbed doesn’t have money to spend on anything. I got my first bonus after 5 years of hard and dedicated work while my friends all get annual bonuses.

Combination of CTO and CEO/TB. CTO isn’t qualified, his only relevant role was being a CEO at a Cisco spin-in where he was just a plant. His background doesn’t spell innovation and you know a CTO is bad when they latch onto sales and marketing. As far as the CEO is concerned, we all know his deal - pretty much ignore what needs to be done and divert attention elsewhere. RMB is the proverbial “squirrel” that is meant to distract us.
Riverbed is a lesson learned for TB. They learned that sales people (esp ones from England) does not automatically make great CEO’s. They know nothing about technology and really competently select technical leaders. TB also learned that hiring 3 stooges doesn’t make things better, they get worse. Lastly, TB learned how to properly vette potential portfolio companies by interrogating their roadmaps and to not just focus on revenue.
Most billionaires nowadays inherited their money, figured the Bravo brothers started off with silver spoons so things like common sense and good intuition doesn’t come naturally.
Health insurance is the only benefit rvbd provides. Not a single penny of any kind of bonus in last 5 years at least for eng - very motivating aspects for innovation and performance. Relax and let TB enjoy it till the last drop.
To add from the last post, innovation costs money and that is something riverbed isn’t producing. Given the situation we’re in, there’s only one path to take and that’s sell what we have and hope for the best. It isn’t inspiring the least bit and neither is the leadership rhetoric either. If you have the skills and drive, I’d start seriously making plans to leave.
Engineering management is full of people who consider new ideas a threat, because it means that the old ideas they implemented fifteen years ago must be wrong and bad, and obviously that means they are wrong and bad. They're obsessed with continually polishing ancient t–ds at the expense of building anything news.
