Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Nice run...

It was a nice run at EM for the most part. As an experienced hire, I will say that despite EM being a very difficult company to work for in terms of processes from controls to IT, everything was slow and overly complicated and n-o-t-h-i-n-g was easy, I have no regrets..loved the Global travel in business class, dug the car service (most companies eliminated that 10yrs ago) and although I never really thought much about it, I have a new found appreciation for the pension, now that that I am ready to cashout and rollover. I'm off to my next gig where I will confidently navigate stairwells with a reclaimed sense of liberation - "look, no hands!"..but seriously, there are many opportunities out there, so be encouraged!

I am feeling a bit jealous of those who got laid off right now.

Yes, I'm so glad I got let go. I got to stop working for 2 months while still getting paychecks. Got paid out for last year's unused vacation, this year's vacation, one helluva severance payment, got my pension moved out and my 401K. The joke is on EM. I made out great with all the money they paid out to me. Now working a new job with better pay and benefits with less stress and better culture. No more forced ranking BS and game playing.
