Data Analysis / Analytics involves the use of mathematical methods to determine the meaning of data produced by large ERP systems. Regression analysis and other methods are used to make data more useful for decision making. Take a look at the curriculum at UH Downtown’s MSc. Program to get a better definition than mine. One can also look at SAS programs at Penn State online Masters program. These programs should be pursued by engineers looking to diversify their job skills and improve company supply chain performance.

I don’t know, but I can say at least the last Data Science Manager was a useless fraud. Hope the new one actually advances Data Science rather than just their own visibility.

Fancy regression and fancier graphs for easily impressed managers! Something like a trophy wife or husband to show around

Excel is bulky and frequently fails when dealing with large amounts of data. I imagine (total speculation here) that the company is looking for a way around this shortcoming.
