Ok, so after reading the many posts on here, it appears that if you were; older, older & paid decently, or in a group that was using ADA accommodations / FMLA that gave you dibs on being laid off. I also believe some of it was personal if "leadership" wanted to keep their buddies onboard and you were a person that didn't fall into their "buddy" category. How is this not fodder for a lawsuit?

Personally, I don’t think being “buddies” with management had anything (or little) to do with it. I was by all accounts liked by mine.
All FMLA is not used in an abusive manner. And, no, I was not laid off because of FMLA, but because of inept management that are causing the demise of a department. It's sad that there are trolls on this site to disparage the good people that were let go in this layoff. Clearly the person dissing FMLA was not part of this situation or doesn't have any insight into what actually occurred.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing "workers" who abuse FMLA get the boot. Just like anything else, 20% of people get done 80% of the results. You weren't buddies with your manager because your work wasn't that good and you weren't worth the personal capital investment. Simple as.

It’s very much favoritism. My manager was so underhanded once he got the keys and his new position. I hope that SOB gets a dose of what he did and how he ruined an entire section of the company that was functioning before he and his nitwit sidekick took over. Also, at the end of the day if you don’t play the game and kiss @ss, your name is likely elevated on the list for the next round of layoffs. Sad but true.
