Open Enrollment?

I received a package from Taben regarding our Cobra open enrollment. From what I can tell, as long as there are no changes, no action is needed. My understanding is that RJ is paying for Cobra for the 2021 calendar year, although payment coupons are included in the Taben package. Can anyone confirm that our insurance will continue to be paid for by RJ?

CORRECTION:
I called Taben because I recently received a large envelope that included coupons for most of 2021. Taben said they were sent out in error and they were sending new coupons. I received the correct coupons this week. I called Taben just to be safe. Per the Taben person I spoke with: (a) your starting coupon depends on, as part of the RIF, if you left before 10/15 or if your last day was 10/15 as that will determine when RJ paid coverage ends and that's when you become responsible for the payments. For ex., if you left on 10/6/20, you have RJ paying thru 10/15/21. If your last day was 10/15/20 then RJ is paying thru 10/31/21 (BUT CALL TABEN TO CONFIRM, JUST TO BE SUPER SAFE) and (b) if you get on a new employer plan they highly suggested you call them 2-3 weeks prior from when you want to cancel COBRA in its entirety before it runs out at end of March 2022 (for ex., you get on a new employer plan on 1/1/22—call them in early Dec. 2021) because they said, otherwise, there is usually confusion between COBRA and your new insurance plan when paying claims. Hope this helps

I called Taben and our Cobra is paid through October 31, 2021. If you do not want to renew it, do nothing and it will automatically cancel on the end date. You can also call them around the end date and they will cancel it. If you want to continue Cobra after October 31, 2021, then fill out the paperwork and submit.

Make double sure.

If the COBRA lapses, you can't get it back.
