Separation Date is March 12 - when can I apply for unemployment in Fl?

I believe I need to apply after March 12 but wanted to double check with folks out here.

Am finding out that previous Governor Rick Scott reduced unemployment benefits from 23 weeks to 12 weeks and yet gave billions in tax breaks to companies.

I understand now how important it is to continue the benefits for extended period and will campaign to restore this and vote out anyone that opposes!

Well, I think it could have played a part. I actually think anything and everything could have played a part (in who would be chosen for RIF). It was just whatever the deciders/choosers wanted to use as criteria—age, disability, didn't like you, too long employed, too newly hired, introvert, extrovert, thought you looked unimportant on Zoom, and yes, possibly your higher cost pr-scrip-ion...or anything else they deemed fitting criteria.

29 and mostly healthy but have a condition that requires a pr-scrip-ion that costs thousands per refill. So I wonder if healthcare costs played a role

@2itn+19JRE8QG I also noticed a RIF’d lower level employee on LinkedIn saying he was on the autism spectrum. Vile!

Same here. I was on ADA accommodation and another person on my team. We were the only two of our team let go.

@1cer+19JRE8QG Two out of the three of us nurses RIF’d in my department had intermittent FMLA accommodations allowing a handful of days off per month (used sick or vacation time for). In my case, Lincoln Financial mysteriously shortened my leave expiration date by a month - my Provider and I have documents that support it was 3/6 - I was notified it expired on 2/8 and was laid off on 2/10. An extension was in process. Coincidence? I think not.

Yes hun. My separation date is also March 12th, so it has to be after that day. Quick question if you don’t mind me asking, did you have any disability or accommodation at work? I’m understanding they did not choose people randomly to let them go

Day after separation date, however how much severance you receive may determine when you get your first check.

Not sure about FL laws, but in MO you have to wait until after the separation date.
