Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Store closing update

I thought posting to an older thread would bump it to the top but I'm seeing now that isn't the case.

Looks like Portland State University is not renewing its contract with Follett because a store manager, assistant store manager, general merchandise manager and temporary part time positions just opened up on BNED's website for PSU. No clue if this has anything to do with Access or not and I haven't found any articles online yet from PSU discussing any aspect of the change over.

I second the post directly below. B&N may have had a better handle on navigating the pandemic than Follett - I'm assuming based on some of the people I know that work for B&N. B&N didn't slash any SM salaries. They did furlough everyone below SM and several home office people (territory VPs, Regionals and other higher positions) suddenly took early retirement last year right around the end of March beginning of April. However, they made sure every store regardless of volume was able to at least bring in a small staff for the first 2 weeks of rush, but that was it. As of February this year they had to do a second round of furloughs for those stores that fell below budget.

Ngl, if you're thinking about applying, do it. Way better than Follett...

Looks like B&N is taking advantage of Follett’s losses? A few stores in my state, not run by Follett, perhaps ran by the school, have went to B&N the past few months.
