Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Laid off in the last round

I don’t know whether to criticize SWN or freaking thank them. What I will say is I busted my butt for this company for 9+ years. Worked weekends and had my share of nights just like everyone else. At first I was angry and maybe a small part of me still is. But life goes on. The only saving grace for me not hating the company is that I was wise enough to see the writing on the wall a while back and started saving. I don’t know if everyone else did the same. I hope you did. In any case, I’m sure in a few weeks/months I won’t give SWN another thought.

The person who said the last post, the words were meant for the author...not an id–t like you that has no grasp on reality. Stay bitter and go away.

Whoever made that last post is a complete fool. Busy your but and have no regrets. All is fine until your bookie wants to collect your gambling loses. It’s real when you get laid off and can not gamble. Go away

What you’re going through is natural and it was smart to save up knowing that even the most talented and dedicated sometimes don’t make the cut. Anyone still there or at any company in the O&G downturn, pandemic and recession environment should prepare for the worst. You can’t really be angry for too long, SWN like any other is struggling to keep profit margin and layoffs are a reality for everyone, it’s not personal...it’s business. Stay positive, enjoy some time with family, and in time you’ll find something else. Remember in companies sometimes it’s who you know not what you know....it ain’t your fault so don’t over analyze why you. In your next job, give what you won’t regret if you’re cut loose, balance it with family as they are still there!

Lots of negativity from ex-SWNners on this board. I'm still happily adding value plus, and I even got a new dog when a stray showed up on my front porch. Don't listen to the haters.

I am still flaming mad at my treatment by southwest. I’ve really been drinking a lot since I was laid off last week. I can’t sleep and my dog has run away. I wish everyone good luck going forward. It was a good run.

Agree with this thread. We need to keep any employee who adds V plus. Anyone that does not put 1.3 PVI into SWN need not be here. We are a game changer in PA/WV/OH!

Abilities, experience, and work ethic aren't an afterthought in layoffs, they're targets. Top contributors are compensated, and that compensation catches the eyes of the G&A bean counters

It’s been a few years for me and I still get p-ss-d. Not necessarily for being laid off, I found comparable work immediately and have done well since. What burns me is the scumbag in the ivory tower and that abilities, experience & work ethic seem to be an afterthought in these RIF events.
