Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Note went out to HAF supervisors: they are now required to ensure employees in open workspaces come to the campus two or three days a week.

My question: in a year when we’ve had friends fired, lost benefits, and taken on more work to cover WF cuts, why further antagonize people with a policy that has, IMO, little to no value?

Pretty sure there are only two options. You do what they want and you keep your job or you ignore them and get fired/PIPed. Pretty simple math.

In Exxonistan it matters most what looks like than what it is. If we pretend it’s all normal and we go back to hammer it in our 1X spaces, it makes someone in Dallas happy, regardless of the consequences.
You have to understand the level of frustration and lack of appreciation managers feel from not having adoring crowds s—ing up on a daily basis, or seeing the people work, collaborate, innovate, bla, bla.
In the last of the soviet republics, our party leaders pretend they care and we pretend we like them.

I have known and heard of people who are in closed offices just say they have underlying health condition to avoid coming to campus — just for thought. Supervisor can’t ask the underlying condition as it’s personal matter.

OP I know the answer to this.

It is far easier to interview for a different job while WFH.

Remove WFH....retain employees?

I joke but I do agree with you. If we are capable of doing our job remotely then why not at least ask us what we want to do.

Tell that to the management just to get back from them one of the following responses.

"Be glad you have a job" OR

"Go and look at your pension calculator before complaining"
