Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Bad vibes

Anyone else feeling strange vibes in their team and in person at the office? Low morale, very little laughter, no small talk and water cooler chats, etc. Feels like everyone is overloaded with work because they’ve had to take on another persons responsibilities and ofc the looming rank that’ll determine if the person next to them survives over them.

Very strange times

Very quite and kind of somber. Nobody is happy but everybody is tired.

@bwv+19H4rj1S This is true. Their minds are made up before ranking even begins.

It does feel weird having the desire to be retrenched.

Focus on the resume.

Post is spot on. And don’t forget the others in the rank session. That is what really makes a difference.

Don’t waste too much time on your PDS. The managers doing the ranking don’t really sit around and objectively discuss accomplishments and performance. They know who they personally like, those they dislike and those they don’t know at all. The latter 2 groups are placed at the bottom. No one’s “compelling” PDS makes a difference in the process.

I am so depressed, I've got nothing spectacular to highlight in my PDS due to COVID and WFH last year. I need to think of something so I get ahead of my colleagues and nada. Not sure if my colleagues are thinking the same. At this point, it's so much easier to draft my resume than PDS golly

Work is so depressing. All other members of my team have indicated to me they’re also looking to move to another company.

Lol the holiday party steakhouses, end of project dinners, TopGolf, renting conference rooms at mega hotels with catering. Probably led us to where we are but it was fun while it lasted. And tbh those expenses are nothing compared to all the private jets, first class flights, 5 star hotel stays and expat assignments that many of the high flyers got.

Remember when we used to blow money on team building. I hit sick of going to TopGolf and the bowling/lazer tag/arcade place in the Woodlands

Well when you listen to investor day and they talk happily about more structural changes and call us all entitled brats it does tend to put a damper on things

Not here in Irving. We are counting our RSUs and bonuses while parroting whatever the BCG consultants tell us to say.
