Layoff would be a relief. The reason is that I can no longer stand the way this company is run. Previously laid off were colleagues I loved to work with and from whom I could learn a lot. Now I am surrounded by much less talented people, but much more ambitious. The result is a toxic atmosphere that is unbearable.

Let’s realize the focus on diversity is driving this strategy.
I'm 60 and taking it. I have a great position in the branches but, since I was going to retire at 62 it makes no sense in my mind not to take it. They'll pay me for almost 2 years. Can always work part-time later on. Four years ago I could not see taking it. Things have worked out well since then.
I worked in Fido corporate at one point and hated my job. While the branches are adding heads I think corporate will be downsizing this year. Between zero commissions and zero interest rates Fido is under pressure. I'd think long and hard about taking it if you are in corporate Fido.
I'm 3 1/2 years short of the layoff package that was offered today. IF they offer it in 3 years from now, I'm in 100%. Generous as hell IMO. I worked for Midway Airlines as a CRJ pilot out of NC back in the day and the layoff package was.... wait for it..... hand in your badge and you can forget your last 2 weeks of pay. Go directly to the unemployment line, do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Get real folks. Fidelity gives you a damn 7% match on your 401k plus 10% every year on top of that. If you've spent 20+ years at Fidelity you have 0 excuses for not being ready for retirement today.
VBO is happening I just got the email.
Just heard VBO is not happening.
Vbo happening. You might have a way out.
Ha ha. Bitter response. I hear you on just being laid off. I spent half my adult life at that company. If the walls could talk! In the end that are turning over the work force. White males with tenure seem to be first in line. Hip young kids are here to replace. You don’t want to be laid off in this environment unless u want to screen for covid. #otheroptions.
You're free to leave at any time. If you're so talented, you shouldn't have any problems doing so.
