Principle Engineer at Micron Is E-5 which should translate to Grade 9-10 at Intel. The Micron offer is for a higher position when comparing between the scales (Go directly from E5 to the Technical leader ladder).
Compensation will likely be matched. Bonus is higher at Intel, as is the dysfunction. Micron will likely be more stable projec wise, employment, team etc...
Attempt to get grade 9 out of Intel or go with Micron would be my advice. Negotiate higher from both and keep location and type of work in mind as you make your decision.
Best of luck!

Tell Micron to hold. Join Intel, get layoff package and then join Micron.

intel all the way! Unless you’d like something meaningful to do, getting paid fairly, a little respect, none of which can be found there. Best of luck!

At Intel you may be targeted for a layoff even after 4 months if you do not comprehend the technology.

if you are not competitive then somewhere else Intel is in middle of layoff process getting replace because of their new CEO.

Probably engineers will confirm this but at intel, principle engineer is grade 10 I believe. Sometimes titles and grade numbers differ from one company to another. If I assume they are the same, micron seems higher in terms of level. I recommend using the compensation package and hiring manager’s title to compare two in terms of seniority.

Probably 6 years ago, you wouldn’t ask this question or the answer would have been Intel, of course. Micron is in memory. Historically memory has boom and bust cycles. Historically Micron also couldn’t attract the same level of talent.

But things have changed. Memory, particularly DRAM has been in short supply due to gaming, crypto and AI related apps and better competitive environment - only 3 companies make DRAM today vs. historically 5 large and a few smaller Taiwanese players. Just look at micron’s stock. It went down to 3 dollars in 2012/2013 timeframe. Look where it is now.

Intel’s culture and work environment have worsen in the last 6 years. It was always tough and political because of the forced performance distribution system. But it is now really bad because last two CEOs, maybe 3 constantly promoted incompetent charlatans. Empty Talkers are everywhere. Good technical talent is not appreciated.

I say check the compensation and level more with micron. It seems more senior. And negotiate with the, to increase your compensation package.
