My supervisor defines work as having his cellphone in his pocket.
He schedules daily meetings with himself
7-9 am getting his children ready for school and transporting them to school - he is working as he is available by cell phone
11-12 walking - he is working as he is available by cell phone
12-1 lunch - he is working as he is available by cell phone
3-5 pm getting his children from school, preparing snacks, taking a walk - he is working as he is available by cellphone.
5pm-7 am he is OFF work, no non-emergency phone calls tolerated and he never checks emails or signs on after hours.
So that leaves a total of 4 hours where he is potentially really working. In those 4 hours he has status meetings with his LL5 and status meetings with his reports, or visits Home Depot for his latest home improvement project. Most of the status meetings with his reports are BS sessions. One rarely sees any real work being done.
