Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Forced to sell

Sell, sell, sell, sell... It's become unbearable to listen to it every day. My superior seems to be completely detached from reality. She literally makes us sell titles that are impossible to sell because people just don’t want them. At first I tried, but it’s impossible to just persuade someone to buy something they didn’t plan on buying. It puts a lot of pressure on me, especially since she doesn’t want to understand that I can’t make anyone buy something they don't want. Terrible.

The customer probably has what they really want. To read the newest books for free at Barnes and Noble.

If you have to try to sell a customer something they don’t want, you don’t have what they really want.

THE COMPANY IS IN THE TOILET AND THEY'RE DESPERATE.

I'm guessing you haven't been with the company long or you would've quit by now. Did they threaten you about selling those worthless member cards yet? "If you want to keep your job, you better sell more cards."

Tell them to F OFF and find a decent job!
You'll thank me afterward.

I agree, no one wants to buy that horrible author James Patterson. It is not normal to publish a book every week. And yeah, he has been doing this for at least 5 years. Down with BN, Daunt, Riggio.
