The layoff came to me as a relief and I thought Allstate would be a long forgotten story as soon as I find a new job.
However, for several months after the layoff, I thought daily about the injustice towards the employees, I was angry, and I was worried - what should I do now, how can I find a job during the worst of the pandemic.
And then finally, I found a job where the atmosphere is much more relaxed, incomparable to the one at Allstate, but I am more anxious than ever. I feel pressure and panic as if I’m still working at Allstate, and then I look around and see others being much more relaxed. It will take me a long time to forget that place.

If you let an at-will job stress you out that much, you have to shoulder some of the blame. Nobody stopped you from selling a different role somewhere else.
I was laid off after 35 years, BTE most years. I thought I had a career only to be shown now It was a job, it didn't matter how much of my life I lost to this Allstate. It was ALWAYS a fire drill no matter what position I was in. After being RIFFED I struggled alot. Since then I have been diagnosed with PTSD BECAUSE of this company. I was having health issues the last 18 months BECAUSE of my job, and it wasn't worth it. I haven't found a new job yet, but I haven't really looked much. My family said they are seeing a difference in me in a good way. I'm not stressed and seem to be enjoying life. Hard to believe I wasted 35 years at Allstate. My entire family said it was a blessing that I was RIFFED and got away from this heartless company.
This place has us on eggshells . They demand perfection while doubling the workload. Customers voice their displeasure almost daily with me. I apologize for the delays , lack of returned phone calls and poor customer service since transformative growth took over.
I can imagine working at McDonald's is a quite less stressful work environment.
I'd suggest people have a little compassion. Everybody's background is different, everybody has had somewhat different experiences, everybody processes their experiences differently.
Poster, you might have something "akin to" PTSD (I in no way mean to diminish the experiences of combat veterans or victims of violent crimes).
I would suggest that if you're struggling that you seek counseling. Your new job's insurance may even cover it, and by law it's confidential (not just what's said, but that you sought help at all).
Do it before you find yourself undermining your experience and success at your new role.
Congratulations on escaping the toxic Allstate experience.
Took me about 2 Weeks. Stop being so dramatic, it’s an awful company just leave.
You will be fine. I left and did not realize how much stress I was under until it was gone. Life is good now without Allsnake!!
