Everyone beware ! There was an employee in Permian who was laid off WHILE she was home after a near fatal bout with COVID. If they’re heartless enough to do that, they’ll chop anyone’s head off without hesitation.

Am I the only one who caught the implication below from the supposedly HR person that said “ during layoffs people suddenly become sick.......” This suggests that the employee was faking it. I know and have worked with this person and can assure you she didn’t fake it. Hard to fake weeks in a hospital. What a Sick a– implication!
Anybody can create “documentation”. It’s what the jury believes. I don’t have a vested interest in any of this, but if it’s true, my heart hurts for the lady. I’m almost ashamed that I work for you a–holes.
There is nothing illegal in Texas for letting a person go even while they are at home.
She would have the burden of proof to show that it was done because she was sick.
And I promise you that HR has lots of documentation to prove her fate was decided well before she got sick.
- S. During layoffs, a high number of people suddenly become sick with the mistaken belief that being at home will stop them from being terminated. I know this because I am in HR.
They will just blame it on the layoff. I work in Permian also and was lucky to escape this one. I'm pretty sure i know which situation / who everyone is talking about. Exceptional and well respected employee. Also a very kind person. I don't think sueing their butt would ever cross their (her) mind. But if she does i hope she mops the floor with them. I noticed the poster WARNING didn't care to present any facts of his own. More COP bs. I'm only in my 30s and getting out of here as soon as i can
Sounds like to me they're trying to get out of paying the LTD
OP here. I work in Permian too and just stating what I know to be TRUE ! The employee WAS let go and was sick for a long time. A lot of us here at Con Phil know of the situation.
WARNING!! I work in Permian and all the facts were not given in this situation!
I totally agree. It is illegal to kick nan employee to the curb because they are disabled. It'll be a slam dunk. This lady is going to be RICH. Hard to believe they were that arrogant and stupid.
YES. Get an attorney. If this person was still on disability leave and not returned to work it could easily be interpreted as the company attempting to avoid paying the benefits due the employee. A good lawyer will slaughter COP on this one.
I hope the person finds a good attorney and ends up with a sh– load of their money.
@iea+19EFVdGR you win sh1tt1est comment on the internet. You must be a real POS. Congratulations.
There were other covid related antics that are probably questionable at least, very illegal in probability. COP put workers directly in the line of fire. SPIRIT values? Only if that stands for Some People Initiate Radically Inhuman Trauma.
What’s the problem? If you owned the business, cutting the weak and non-productive would be a great plan. You wouldn’t pay people to lay around at home... regardless of their reason.
Whoa ! This person should find themselves a ruthless attorney and get down to business.
