Hello everyone could someone share any knowledge of how severance is calculated from the looks of things I see a lot of former employees stating they received/offered 2 months/8 weeks of pay from 1 year up to 6 years and 1 month of outplacement pay paid through an outside vendor plus your bonus, I heard talk of 2 weeks for every year worked that’s not what I’m seeing displayed hear, any feed back will be very helpful in determining if we are getting shaft on severance packages.

I was laid off January 2020 Wellcare employee when Centene purchased the company. I was with the company for 5 years and received severance until the end of October 2020. It was originally 12 weeks then they extended it due to the pandemic which I thought was extremely generous.. I had a coworker with 7 years and same pay grade ... they received less than I did by. Couple of months... so I’m not sure what the formula used to determine the time period. I wanted to tell that coworker who actually shared their severance end date with me but I knew that would have opened an HR complaint and a violation against the agreement I signed and agreed to.
I was shy of 6 years this April, I was offered 11 weeks. Not sure what the math is on that. I was in a contracting role so not sure if my pay grade affects any of that also. 🤷🏻♀️
I am wondering if anyone has actually been paid their severance. I just received my last 80hr paycheck today when payday is next week. So I’m wondering if that’s when they will disburse the pay out. Any thoughts?
They also included a confidentiality clause to the Agreement saying we are not to divulge any details of our severance package or terms to anyone but our spouse/SO and the like...
I believe with the WARN Act they have to give you 60 days which equates to the 8 weeks everyone is getting. Anything on top of that is due to their generosity. ;-)
True about 2 weeks for every year of employment, rounding up. Nurse Case Manager here.
They are definitely paying whatever they want. Last year they gave 26 weeks paid to 3 people in my team, one of them started training with me so we both had the same time working there, I’m being laid off and was only offered 4 weeks of pay. I already have an attorney looking into it
Seven years with WellCare, 14 weeks severance. My supervisor 13 years , severance 6 months if that helps at all.
They are offering 8 weeks and 1 month of outplacement pay for the pandemic like they are being sensitive to the situation but in all reality that 1 month of outplacement pay is really due to us for years of service thus company is really evil and don’t care who it destroys well done Centene you are a model company shrugs shoulders with cheap grin.
Yes I agree they screwing people over 6 years should account for more than 8 weeks I been seeing people saying they were with the company 1 and 2 years receiving 8 weeks this is really a head scratcher. Thanks for your reply.
They’re really screwing people over! There is not set amount per year sounds like. I was with the company 6 years and they only gave me 8 weeks, so no it’s not 2 weeks per year that’s BS. When I called HR, they claim it’s your number of years and grade level. I’m having an attorney look over mine because they are really screwing me for the amount of years I put in, then I’m seeing people post with 6 years getting 12 weeks, something is not right!
