I just found out about a former employee who was PIP’d back in July 2020 and was part of the voluntary program. I thought anyone that was PIP’d was not eligible. Can anyone help explain? Thanks in advance!

Is that really a benefit? Lol
Yes as anyone that passed the pip happened by the end of Oct. so unless your supervisor had extended your pip (which is apparently a thing) you were no longer on an active pip and eligible for the involuntary program.
I know at least 3 people in Global projects this happened to. It s—s because the work they did to prove they didn’t deserve a pip was huge to then be let go was horrible. The only real benefit over taking the pip was no signing a document saying you will never work for / contract for EM again.
Management top act award goes to the Supervisor that contacted a young lady while she was in labor and told that she was being let go. Now that’s class!!! Miserable s* bags.
Yep, I was. If you read the rules, anyone who was on a PIP in July and passed could be eligible for involuntary. For me, it was great, probably couldn't have worked out better. I was on garden leave for 6 out of the 8 weeks. Landed a new job during the time, really didn't miss a beat (bonus: making more money with the new gig), and got a nice severance from EM, not to mention I'll pull the retirement and lump sum pension into an IRA that will undoubtedly perform better compared to Voya. Joke is on EM in the end, quite validating. Prior boss will get theirs, I'm sure. Not sure even McDonalds would hire him to flip burgers, cause he'd undoubtedly f*ck it up. EM is sinking fast, get out while you can! Many great opportunities outside of oil town , you just have to do a little looking.
I know a few people who "survived" last year's PIP but 100% got laid off immediately after in the involuntary. Also, I know one woman on mat leave during the Aug to Nov PIP period. She would have been PIP'ed then, but didn't come back until Dec - was immune from the involuntary but then "failed" the PIP anyway and got booted. Also plenty of examples of laying off or PIP'ing people with chronic illnesses etc. December s—ed.
It was "active" pip. I don't have a clue anyone who was considered "active" by December as PDS was rushed and completed by like end of July to rush people out the door.
I know people that were PIP'd and then let go in the involuntary program.
Also know someone. Keyword is "active" PIP...
YUP. I personally know someone who passed the PiP and then was laid off from our geo team in UIS.
I have no idea what are the rules anymore.
And frankly, I think they wouldn’t abide by them anyways.
