Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Mindset: it won’t happen to me

This is the worst thing. I was convinced that I would survive this round, I guess because at the time I couldn’t accept the truth that we were all interchangeable. I just wanted to give a little advice not to repeat my mistake, because “it won’t happen to me” is a very dangerous mindset. When you finally get laid off, it seems like it came out of blue and stress and disappointment is even bigger. So always be prepared.

this is true. I got laid off January the first wave & was told that our department was safe & growing. A few days later a few folks in my “safe” department was laid off. I was devastated and in shock & depressed and gained weight quick and fast due to the depression. The severance was good. They extended it due to Covid. So I received severance from Jan 2020 until Oct 2020 .. I landed another job making more money thank God. There is life after a layoff. I wish everyone the best.
