Return to work plan

Regarding the return to Campus plan,
Doesn’t it feel tone deaf given that kids in Houston public schools are still out this week? Some managers need to read the WrEM expectations again.
I suspect this is another way to “layoff” another round of already hard working professionals. :(

What does this have to do with racism? You are just looking for justification to continue being the lazy a$$ you are.

Then go get vaccinated and move on with your life.

Your arguments are diminished when you resort to calling others inbreds.

The only thing that they were waiting is clearance from the legislature on liability.
Since politicians will bend over backwards for the industry, management can give two fu ks about our health.

It’s remarkable to read all these comments from inbreds on sites; they can’t grasp what’s like to commingle with a couple thousand people, most of them defiant of public health advice. Not sure it’s because they are in rural middle of nowhere or just the resentment or their willful ignorance.

I'm glad to be back on campus . I was hanging out at the coffee shops and malls to get out of the house. Now at least I feel like I'm working again. The gym has been having good promotions and the people there are so nice. Great place to strike up a pleasant conversation before going for my shower and getting ready for the evening.

Campus worker here - I totally agree with all the comments from the folks at site. We have such a culture of whiners it’s insane - and yet they all have time for multiple coffee catch-ups, Pilates at the gym, massages and green smoothies. We are so privileged it’s actually ridiculous. Our campus never resonated with my personal vision of the oilfield, but it’s been a huge perk so people need to adjust and get back to work!

If people on campus are so concerned about COVID I find it interesting so many are making it to the on site gym during the afternoon. Pretty nice to be able to take a lunch break followed by afternoon workout then go home because showers are closed. Working half days now on campus? Must be hard to get everything done in just the morning. Maybe they can use the gym badge in and out to determine groups that are over staffed.

Yes people at sites are getting sick. Most recover quickly. A very few spend time in hospital. We even had a death. Did they catch it at work or the grocery store? We will never know. Are people at sites catching it more than the general population? No. Should schools stay closed? Definitely no. Look at the numbers and teachers can get vaccinated. Should we get back to work? Yes. At least in Texas if you are an energy worker you can go online and get your first shot in a couple of days with the second shot auto scheduled for two weeks later. No more reason to not reopen.

Would never believe that I, as an individual human resource,
is more valuable than any other resource to produce the dollars for the Company.
So to your last question: Nah.

Just curious - any of the folks at the sites getting sick?

It's one thing to point out a double standard between the campus folks and the sites - there probably is one. It's another thing to work for a company that wants to keep all of their employees healthy and safe vs. one that basically doesn't care.

Wherever you work, do you think this company really values you, your health, and your safety the way they claim to?

None of the responses address the underlying question from OP:
Will hesitance or wanting 'flexibility' impact the annual rankings (or PiP/Layoff mark)??

Well, the answer is 'Yes'. Big time.

This was an earlier post (yes - I collect some):
 I am aware of a US employee (non-Texan site) who was asked by Supervisor last June (2020) if he would be willing to come back to Office full-time in July - Yes or No. This was asked of all members of his team in separate Zoom calls for this sole purpose (no other topic). This was the conversation:
Supv: "Will you be willing to come back to office when it opens next month?"
Grunt: "I'm not sure. My wife is just finishing up her Chemo treatments. You know that."
Supv: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you're not willing to come back. OK. Thanks."

Requesting us to return to work at the Spring campus when we are right smack dab in the middle of a pandemic, nobody as yet to be vaccinated for the China flu, our children still out of school and forcing us to hold handrails and work with others in open cubicles is very white supremacist, especially considering that the vast majority of our Executives, VPs, presidents and god podders are white males.. I don’t want to be a part of forcing anyone to do anything they don’t want to do, “That’s what slavery is, I’m not gonna be a part of it.”

I’m office based in Baytown MOB. Been back at the office “full time” for months. If my kids are out of school for the week, I work from home. Company has been touting the flex policy and even before then non-dinosaur supervisors and managers are generally OK with it if you don’t abuse it. Now we’re being told we need to be OK with letting employees utilize the flex policy if we weren’t before. Anyone trying to make the argument that the company isn’t supportive either has management that needs to get with the times or is covering for some other bad behavior that’s “getting them in trouble”.

So... Office workers are so careless and immature that they can't take this seriously while the workers at the sites and facilities that have been fully returned to work are managing this just fine? Is our spring campus just full of a bunch of id–ts?

Return to campus? I’m over the COVID virus just like the next person. What I’m dreading is going to the campus and people are so relaxed that they aren’t wearing masks, coughing, sneezing and not social distancing. Their manners have gone out the door. Then you have that manager that stares you down and continues to be rude and insulting because you didn’t take the retirement package. Then brings up the BIG reorg where the surplus will be discarded and how Dallas is pleased with the plan. Disgusting!! It’s time to not fight or beg for another position but, to walk away. I’ll leave with dignity something ExxonMobil has pushed to the wayside. But, remember this WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND.

Campus wimps sitting in your home and offices and dreaming about how you can save the fields and factories — you are useless and not needed. All you do is make plans that are wrong and have no idea how to run a field. Do us all a favor and leave — we can do without you in ivory tower .. pull your kids pants up and show up to work .. I see in zoom calls you guys just sitting in your BEDROOM and taking calls .. this guy is a young executive in UIS .. how can that happen? And you make lot more than we do .. all BS on campus .. get the hell out if you can find another job otherwise just show up .. you coddled up babies

I've been working more hours from home than I did when I was in the office, so not sure I get the hate against office workers here. WFH doesn't mean slack off, it means WORK (from home)

Womp womp. I hear your complaints, but if you really want to “toe the line” of We Are ExxonMobil you need to check your campus privilege at the door. Those of us in the manufacturing world have been back to work for months! Out at Mont Belvieu everyone has been 100% return to work since at least November. This includes all engineers who can easily support remotely. Covid can infect you anywhere, it doesn’t discriminate between campus vs site. Stay safe out there, but just keep in mind that the sites have always had it worse than campus. Worse offices. Worse food options. Worse locations. Worse Covid protocols. Etc.

I’m just as annoyed as the next person to have to come in again but common it was inevitable. This isn’t some progressive tech company that would allow full remote. I’m just hoping after all this time away, 1-2 days a week wfh is more of a norm and not an exception.

I don't live in Houston but many kids across the US are safely back in school and offices opened up. Based on the metrics, why are you all trying to play hookie from work like little children?

Let's see. They need employees to use up gasoline on that 5-10 mile commute driving to campus so their profits go up. They want employees to get Covid by leaving the safety of their homes. The drones they use to spy on everyone to be sure they are actually working from home need repairs. They think maybe the employees in Canada had something to do with the artic front last week and need to monitor for collusion. The managers are tired of not being able to treat people poorly in person. They want to send shareholders pictures of employees back at work to fool them into thinking all is well. They need the lights and heat running to sell more natural gas to the power plants. Most of their profits come from the cafeteria which they need to reopen. They can't rank and PiP people unless they sit across from them in person.

Miss anything? Clearly people need to stay home. Going to work is an extreme expectation and cannot be tolerated.
