Return to Work - Lack of Care

If you work on the Spring Campus, you’ll soon see return to work instructions mandating attendance 2-3 days a week if you’re in an open office.
While a return is unavoidable, let’s remind management that the Houston area is still recovering from storm damage, which includes Houston public schools being closed for the week. Sending a communication now feels like a kick in the gut to parents who are struggling already.
Yes, we’re all fortunately in many respects, but man, for being some of the smartest people, our management sure lacks empathy.

Maybe this is how we “push” out another group of “surplus” employees... Good luck all!

You guys go to gym, eat at restaurants, go to church, go for play dates, go for shopping, etc. But don’t want to come to work. Number of COVID cases we had outside work is far far more than at campus. Stop complaining and start coming to work. While on campus, stop with all “networking” garbage and start doing some actual work.

Get you rears back to work you pansies! We have been working in the field since this started. We are getting tired of carrying you all around! You don't mind going to Walmart, but cry about actually having to go to the office!
The only exception to me is if your kids have virtual school, and very few are doing that now. By the way do you Isolate from your kids after school, because you are so afraid of the virus? No? Then get to work!!!!

Fully appreciate your points. I do agree, EM policies have been supportive. This common sense approach is what makes/made EM great. People are working hard, we all understand the tough times. Given how most teams work in EM, is a rush to Campus really going to create additional productivity? I would argue not. Leave the decision to each business unit rather than mandating filling buildings. Not disagreeing with your statements and totally agree that EM is not a social club, but let’s trust our employees and empower them as the WeREM behaviors suggest.

For the vast. vast majority of people, Texas is back to normal. Schools, roads, stores all open for several days now. Houston ISD is online only this week, but if you work at the Spring campus, chances are that your local school district is fully open again. Yes, a number of homes did suffer some damage such as burst pipes requiring extensive repairs, but EM has always accommodated employees who have such special circumstances, plus the vacation policies are quite generous for extreme situations. Everyone feels bad for those who are dealing with hardships.

There are plenty of legitimate problems with EM to complain about, but this is not one of them. I have some real issues with EM, but if you need additional legitimate time off, it should not be an issue whatsoever. If not, then time to get back to work. EM is a business, not a social program. You can't blame all of the world's problems on EM with any credibility.
