Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

This is the deal

Seems like Allstate is getting rid of any area/division that is not profitable enough. I predict they'll only want to be an auto and home insurance company. Glen and Tom and all of the other a-holes are just waiting to get bought out.

Do what's best for you. Leave or stay. The place does not give one sh^t about anyone. They say all the right words but no action behind it. I haven't been with Allstate that long, but I can tell you they have a problem with the employees that have been there long-term. It's like high school to them. They're a-holes to new employees and they have no idea what it's like outside of Allstate.

Coming to Allstate has been a very bad idea. Totally regret it.

Umm....nobody is going to purchase Allstate with a 33.6B market cap that is trading on its reputation. If ALL does not take drastic measures to be competitive in the auto insurance market, it is destined to be the next Sears; once a prominent respected brand that faded away because of inherent high distribution costs. ALL has the same problem, the company is bloated with people and process inefficiencies that reflects in the premiums charged.
Unfortunately, the company is in survival mode and the human carnage is collateral damage.

I am the original poster and middle aged. I haven't been treated very well at all by my manager who's been at Allstate for 25+years and also along with another co-worker that have been there over 15 years. But I have met a number of nice people who I wished I worked closer with. All in all, the place s—s for me.

I couldn't agree with you more regarding sh–bags Tom and Glenn and the overall piss poor state of the company.

However as a long tenured employee of 14 years I can say that the exact opposite regarding tenured employees. The issue is you have these young entitled often unqualified people coming in new thinking they are on equadl footing as tenured employees thinking they should just be handed promotions tand management position like the world owes them. A real trophy generation. Now to be totally fair I do not know you or know if you came in like that but in every new hire group I have seen in multiple areas at least half fit what I stated above and THAT is what turns the tenured employees off to most newer employees. Are there bitter lazy old scabs who have been in the same front line role for 20 years p-ss-d at the world that they have not advanced and it is everyone else's fault? Sure. However the vast majority of tenured folks I know are turned off by the attitudes and entitlements of the newer employees. Just my 2 cents.

I have been at allstate 5 years. The first four years were fine but the last year upper management has showed their true colors. I agree, it does feel like Allstate is trying to be bought out. They are desperate to cut costs which is confusing because they are very profitable. I'm mentally ready to move on but don't want to rush into another bad situation so once this vaccine dies down next year I'm going to explore all my options. Honestly, I don't really care what type of business job I do. I just want to work somewhere I get paid well, have good coworkers (Allstate has great co-workers) and management values and respects employees which Allstate does not
