Why is the Manager Appointing a change champ? last time this happened people lost their jobs...

Why do they continue to make these irrational decisions that affect our jobs in such a negative way? Can someone say Kmart ?? Older Associates that have been around a long time knows
They took such a good Place to work and destroyed it years ago!
I believe the last time this title was used was back when Workday was being implemented.
More or less whoever is designated as Change Champ is supposed to assist in the transition to whatever new policies/programs are being implemented.
During Workday the Change Champ was supposed to train and guide managers and leads through the new processes and programs.
What is a Change Champ? Never heard that title before
