Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Is it hard to find a new job if you're over 50?

I've been hearing some worrying stories from people who were laid off and are still struggling finding a new job. All of them are over 50. Considering that I'm in that category as well, I'm now more worried than ever about being affected by layoffs. Is it really that bad out there for us?

Yes, it will be very hard. Now, you could connect with a smaller company that needs leadership over some young talent if you have management skills. That is what I am going to do. Will get paid less but perhaps have less stress.

Yep.
We are no longer wanted. They want the young, so they can “shape and mold” them.
Meanwhile, you can help those kids with all the sh– they have no clue about.
I will now prepare myself too ... good luck to us.

Yes. You have to try much harder, expect a much longer search, and network a lot more. And be more than a bit lucky. Jobs aren't out there, and you will have to be prepared to take less because of this damn COVID. If you're still working at Centene, start looking NOW.
