For me, that was five years ago. I entered this company full of enthusiasm and my superiors assured me that everyone here could make progress based on their effort and performance. It didn’t take me long to realize that the reality was different, but I could never have imagined that the company would be in this state as it is now in just a few years. When I remember how happy I was that first day and how I feel today ... what a debacle.

I can say I’m in 10+ years and pre-Shapiro Allstate was awesome. I thought Allstate was my final career spot! I had Bill Daily “claims vp” show up and ride with me in the field unannounced. Fantastic guy! He just wanted to get a glimpse of field operations because “I don’t want to be out of touch”. Executives leading with trust is what Allstate was! It was down to earth leadership at its finest.
The company has to reiterate how transparent they are on every communication. It’s clear that they aren’t. I wish they would just cut the c-ap and give it to us straight.
Im 16 years in now and I can tell you, this is not the same Allstate as when I started. We used to get quarterly prizes, a couple outings a year, and the office truly felt like a family. In short, you felt cared about as an employee. Even though the workload was high, morale was good so you didnt notice the workload as much. Now, well you know.
My first day at Allstate was slightly after Glenn Shapiro came to Allstate, so I never knew what it was like before he got there. The more tenured coworkers told me Allstate was much better "back in the day."
This is nothing new from corporate America, and I'm not naive to that. But for a major insurance company to decline in such a relatively short amount of time, it is sickening. My heart goes out to those employees who are stuck there and can't escape.
Add me as a plus one. Sickening that this "Great American Company" has fallen so far, so fast. Just like Sears.... "Thanks Tom and Glenn." The "Greatest Small Business Opportunity in America" has turned into a sick joke when they have agents selling online out of their basements. Add a plus if you agree.
