Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate Leadership

Anyone else feel that Allstate leadership is running the sales organization into the ground. Good indication is # of agencies for sale and morale is definitely at all time low. Agents are forced to chat with every department and mandating company phone system.
Please help rid Allstate of these horrible so called leaders.

I can assure you that the 3800 jobs lost figure is much lower than the actual let go. That was the original target number but through better than expected slicing and dicing and lopping off areas without proper getting and review Shapiro and company were able to eventually let almost 7000 souls go. This is confirmed by a person I know in HR.

Their purpose is greed in the biggest sense!
They told the folks that answer agent's questions that they want to move into the number one position, and the only way to do that is to stop focusing on quality and go for the quantity.
But yet with that mentality, they have tightened up rules and guidelines not only for the agents but also for the customers. No more do they show mercy for those impacted by the covid and can't hardly pay their bills including their insurance.
They've already cut 3,800 jobs center wide at the end of last year, and they're still looking to automate even more to get rid of more humans.

The new commission schedules are designed to reward the stars who bring in lots of business and make it harder for people who don't bring in as much business to take advantage of the 80/20 rule so as to cut overhead. There are companies that have been pushing this kind of mentality for their sales organization for a long times, and it lets them get away with making more money with far less people because it's a winnowing process that weeds out less effective singletons and those who can lead others effectively and still maintain their fat commissions end up managing to the limit of their competence. The people acquiring the books of people leaving tend to drag up customer feedback metrics too, plus having less people at less costs allows Allstate to give more competitive rates in the long run.

People have long complained that Allstate is stuck in the 90s. Well, it's getting out of the 90s, and people who can "transform" may have their complaints with the competency of its implementation, but getting paid more sure salves a lot of wounds.

@1euo+196kI8YY Any halfway decent agent is making a lot more money now, auto commissions for those that sell over the monthly minimum go from 9% new auto policy to 25% new auto policy, homeowners from 9% new policy to 17% for the new policy.

I have several agents that are friends of mine and they are hiring more staff, they also like it because the agents who don't want to hire staff are now selling and they are buying up those books.

These high performing agents I know never had a CSR, they had selling staff and they could handle any situation that came up.

I do know 2 agents that are long term with Allstate, they have just 1 staff each and they were not pleased with the changes but they are also not on IS as they don't have to be, both said they will wait it out as they are making enough on residuals to be comfortable for a long time.

Agents are leaving because of the reduction in commission, fear that IS program will become mandatory thus reducing the value of the business an agent has grown, and the realization that Allstate upper management wants them gone. No longer will a family have a relationship with an agent, no longer will a family have a sounding board at the agency. If I built my business to a substantial BOB and Allstate wants to take 2%, which is effectively 20% of my residual income, why would I not try to get out? IS program will cost an agent the equivalent of a CSR salary, eliminating a person in the agency for a voice at an 800 number. Can anyone see the resemblance of GEICO?

Of course it's deliberate - they don't even hide it..........

Yes these town hall meetings are leading Allstate down a dark hole. This guy Terrance has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. Always promising growth. With all the cuts in service and claims it’s s-htshow.

I have come to the conclusion that it is deliberate. What their purpose would be I don't know but there is no way a board room full of these people doesn't have at least a person or two that could have kept things from spiraling down in this way. Regardless of how incompetent and pathetic Wilson and Shapiro are there must be checks and balances to right this direction. I think they are all in on something leading to a sale, merger, or liquidation where they can run off with all the money.
