Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Layoff - how do they inform you

Does anyone know how does the act of communication that one is being laid off happen?
Who notifies you and how do they tell you? How long the meeting lasts?

With a lot of departments only recently hired or still hiring I wonder how far one could go legal on VMware after being let go.

Because surely they don’t follow local redundancy laws. Not in the UK anyway.

I've heard that they send a carrier pigeon, which can take 2 days to get to you depending on where you live.

How many people "explode" at their manager when they hear the bad news?

My manager sent me a meeting invite to "sync up" and was told that I was being let go. There was no HR on the call which I found odd.

Good luck to everyone that was impacted.

Usually get a calendar invite from your boss or the next person who is not being impacted in your reporting structure if your boss is also gone Not a long call, maybe 15 minutes where they tell you that your job no longer exists and these are the benefits available to you.
