Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Last Chance sale ?

A Barnes and Noble store , in NY, on their Facebook page is advertising their “ Last Chance” sale.
Is this company wide or just the stores that know they’re closing ?

This is at least the third year in a row they lower certain items to 75% off in early February, around mid-Feb those items are in a $2.00 box.

Last chance ?
Sale?
It’s your “last chance “ to look out for yourself.
You KNOW more layoffs are on the horizon.
Why are you playing with your livelihood?
Find something now, before there’s hundreds/ thousands out there scrambling for a paycheck.

Given their downward spiral, poor choice of words if you don’t wNt people to think this is finally the end.

I think only a few store have this promotion it’s supposed to come and go. Right now all items are 75 percent off.

BN in NYC has had a lot of "last chance" sales. I've always looked at NYC and especially Manhattan as the canary in the coal mine for bookstores. If BN can't survive in Manhattan of all places, where it's inconvenient as heck to pick up packages, people commute via subway everyday, many quite some ways, and population is over 70,000 per sq mile, and the traffic passing by is by can reach hundreds of thousands daily, where else is it going to succeed? If the Village Voice couldn't succeed as a free paper, what hope does paid dead tree media have?
