Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

There is life after the railroad

As a former UPRR employee who fell victim to the corporate greed of Lance Fritz and his minions two years ago, my heart goes out to you all. I assure anyone who is let go, there is life after the railroad. FYI, trucking companies love us former railroad people. Be safe ya’ll.

NS was a good job at one time when actual crafts people took management jobs. They knew about how repairs took. And then the college pukes arrived...And it all went to HELL!

Everybody knew what they were getting into. But after 20 years when you finally have part of weekends, off and all of a sudden you are the bottom guy. S—S.

I find it funny that every person that has been laid off from NS comes on this very site and always say the same thing.

"There are plenty of jobs out there making the same money if not more, I now have weekends off, life is great." Yata Yata. While the hell did you work at NS in the 1st place? Every single person knows before they are hired you will be working nights, weekends, holidays, etc. Stop lying! It's gotten old

Yep. Currently working days with weekends off. Making same money, good benefits, and no one constantly trying to fire me.

As someone who was axed in the latest purge, I'm quickly coming to realize that. Best wishes to everyone. You dont have to work 2nd or 3rd shift with weekdays off the rest of your life while your family falls apart because of it. Leave the abusive relationship with this company.
