Exploration hi-pots? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I hope you've been enjoying the aurora borealis,
Because it's almost time to move back to Dallas.

They need to cut lots of current people in Alaska so that they have somewhere to move the Exploration hi-pots.

The Alaska BU has been inundated with egotistical managers and Hi-Pots from various failed or sold BUs since the spin off. Many of which think they need to make sweeping changes (like the most recent re-org) to have something to put on their goals. Most are promoted and quickly relocated before they are held accountable for the mess they created. But not to worry. Even with substantial overhead, inefficient re-orgs, and the creation of expensive remote ops centers, using "Point Forward" economics all major Alaska projects will come in under the $40 COS metric. PowerPoints don't lie and most managers in Alaska now have smooth confident accents. EOI's will cover most of the layoffs in Alaska. Experienced folks will hang it up and we will get a new round of imports that know best.

Some costs have been cut. They didn’t renew the lease for ANO building and they did renew the long term lease for ATO. So COPA isn’t really going anywhere. Additionally some groups really can’t afford any cuts such as IT HR and finance those groups are stretched very thin. All other groups have way way to many people and several groups are very inefficient. The total layoffs in Alaska will be 5% and this includes EOI’s. There will be some people coming from L48 to fill some positions.

Largest oil reserve for the Company Ha, that's a joke. Had to have tiny independents discover things
around acreage we had for decades. NO need for all the people up here, time to trim the many fat layers off now, and sell off like BP.

There are so many people in Alaska because all too often jobs are created for the spouses of people who actually appropriately fill a role. Also, they like to have lots of office engineer redundancy so they can take turns going hunting and fishing. They also refuse to upgrade or simplify workflows that were developed in 1998 so things take about 4x as long as they should.

Maybe we have that many people because that is where we have our largest oil reserve, because people in the slope have to rotate. But you won’t understand

Hard to explain why they have so many people there any more.
