Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

National General

Working for National General has been wonderful! The company really cares about the employees. It's an environment that fosters growth. I'm worried about what is coming based on these comments.

A company that cares about you makes you want to work smarter and more efficiently. Myself and peers take pride in our work and the service we provide. Is this the beginning of dark days???

To the OP you will probably end up with a pay cut and so you might as well start looking for a new job now.

There will be an easy adjustment period then buckle up! I experienced this first hand and knew the details of pending office closures. When the time comes its strictly a numbers game. Here is your number now make it work.

Your post reminded me of working at Esurance before it turned over to Allstate.

It's going to change and not for the better. Welcome to the world of "exciting times!!!". That is the most annoying thing to deal with. Stop the BS c-ap talk and treating us like id–ts that don't understand what's going on. Be realistic and honest with your employees.

I felt really bad when I heard Allstate bought Nat Gen because I knew a few Esurance people that went over to Nat Gen well before Allstate took over the Esurance brand. They were moving on to a better opportunity and now it looks like they are going to be knocked down a few pegs.

Hopefully your new Allstate pay band won't be lower than your current one so you avoid a pay cut for doing the same job.

Last I heard Allstate had cars sitting in lots and body shops for over a month while squabbling with repair shops so we at Allstate should be careful where we are throwing stones.

@aab+192Nc5gf I'm the original poster...that could very well be true. I'm not a claims adjuster but I've heard there is a very heavy workload as a claim handler.

That's great that you like working for NatGen but when I worked in claims I hated calling you guys as a claims adjuster. I had to leave multiple phone calls, chase your adjusters, and wait forever for you to attempt to contact all parties.

If you're happy with your new spouse, you should reflect about why you're wasting time stalking your ex.

The only saving grace initially, should you make it through the expected layoff for the duplicate positions from the merger, is that NatGen leadership is heading up the transition into Allstate. Some of the initial good work conditions and environment you enjoy should remain for at least a little while especially while working from home.

However it is only a matter of time before the good hands land of toxicity takes over. Eventually you will be input into a world of Transformative Growth, two faced management, vile office politics, and horrible morale that will only s— the life out of you. Allstate is a sinking ship of pain and despair. The reason Allstate purchased NatGen is to buy market share because Tom Wilson and Glenn Shapiro are not competent and unwilling to grow market share through process and initiative changes.

I wish I could paint a rosier picture but it just isn't possible without flat out lying to you.
