Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

You can walk away at any point

Let me preface this by saying I'm no fan of Allstate and this is not one of those "if you hate it here so much just quit" rage-posts. I understand that people are unhappy and why they're unhappy. I'm actually planning my exit and I hope to be out within a month. Which is why I can't understand why there are no more people doing it. The situation outside is not as bleak as the management would like us to believe. There are available job - you just have to be persistent and patient. It pains me to see how much this place is affecting people's lives and healths and yet everybody is staying. In all honesty, how much worse can it get if you walk away?

It is difficult for some people, because they have worked there their whole life, and never had to find a new job. Allstate expects loyalty but then are not loyal to their employees. The entire corporate world has been getting this way for a couple decades now.

Even if you can't "just walk away", you can at least make steps towards it. If you do nothing but complain about your horrible situation while doing nothing to get out of it you're just an entitled Karen, an eternal victim who moans, groans, and demands the largely powerless manager do something about it.

Not everyone can just afford to walk away, even for a little bit. I'm sure there are single parents out there trying to take care of their families. There are also other adjusters who are making too much of a salary to be matched by any other company, even at the same level/position. Not everything is black and white.

Fortunately, I am in a financial position where I could have been ok with not working, but having an employment gap in my resume may not look good. Luckily, I found a job at another insurance company, and I'm not looking back. Godspeed to those of you still stuck at All$tate. I hope you all find a way out of there while having a good backup plan.

Post ID: @pgh+192HusbC - AGREED! We, too, have actually lowered our expectations and how we work with Allstate clients. Doing only minimums just to get by and no longer going "the extra yard" to keep the client satisfied. Maybe collecting more off Ailstate from the "Claim Satisfaction Guarantee" will get them to wake up. My stress level is almost down 100% as well.

Nice try Mr. Wilson! But no...I think I will stick to my own personal "Transformative Growth" plan which is going quite well and have been on it since last summer. As part of my "Transformative Growth" I have scaled back my efforts and caring from 100% and better than expected rating to around 60% and totally fine with expected. Doing just enough to not be cast into some terrible Continuous Improvement plan and where I am simply left alone. This brings about a much happier and stress free job experience. Also I am making sure to educate customers of the poor conditions and unacceptable business practice to help make sure the make better insurance decisions with a better company. Life has been so much better since I have "transformed" and some of my peers have started to transform in similar ways. Now I just wait for the certain layoff and my 10 months of severance pay and a much deserved vacation. Have a good weekend Tom and best to you and your toupee.
