At the end of the day, GS is more of a nice guy than people give him credit for. You know what they say, nice guys finish last.
He is the type of person who if you went to his church, or he know you personally, he would help you out if you were struggling.

Shapiro is the Donald Trump of insurance companies. Prudential, then Liberty, now Allstate. He spends years making a big mess, leaves, then the next guy has to come in and mitigate the damage. What a legacy.
Yeah, if you mention the name Glenn Shaprio to anyone that works for Liberty and has been there a few years, eyes roll, they shrug or they laugh. He did to them what he's doing to Allstate now and other management had to control and fix the damage he caused.

We’re all struggling and can’t get unemployment because we took the severance package so how do we ask Glenn for help with the mortgage and bills now? Xmas was the worst ever .

He plays the part... animal lover, vegan, soft spoken... but if you speak with any officer of the company they will all tell you the same thing—he is a snake.
He’s a smart guy, you don’t get to the c-suite of a Fortune 500 by accident, but privately he has no regard for front-line workers and has stated so in meetings.
Look at his track record at Hartford, then Liberty and now here. He is not a “nice guy,” he has made a career of gutting departments and companies to show record profits for a few quarters then he moves on to the next leaving the organization to put the pieces back together.
Executives must make hard decisions, I honestly don’t resent the amount they’re paid, many are worth it because the impact of their actions are good for the big picture and some genuinely deserve the benefit of the doubt. I can promise you Glenn Shapiro is not one of them. He is not here to build anything—he will be gone in 2 years max and sell his “results” to the next insurance company.
For the past 15 years Tom Wilson has slowly k–led this once great American company, hiring Glenn Shapiro simply accelerated the inevitable.
Many of the best executives and senior leaders in Allstate were not even given the opportunity to interview to keep their jobs—people who dedicated 30+ years to this company and did an amazing job. The only true Allstater left in Northbrook is Guy Hill in Product Management.
The P&C industry is going through a transformation, but Allstate is run by inadequate leadership who has absolutely no regard for the common worker... especially Glenn Shapiro.

The man is your standard compulsive lying arrogant selfish two faced millionaire that fits right in with corporate scum like Tom Wilson, Eric Brandt, Julie Parsons, and the rest of the slime at the top if Allstate's org chart. Glenn Shapiro uses people, lies to people, abuses people, and throws away people just to line his own filthy pockets. He destroys lives and destroys families for his own self gain and I suspect for his own sick pleasure.
