Putting lipstick on a pig....it's still a pig
I left Progressive 20+ years ago to Allstate while taking a pay cut. Don't know how it is there now, but, back then it was an insurance claims mill.
@dxu+190WQSFp This guy (or gal) gets it. It’s the American way, just do a half assed job. They half a– my career soI half a– my job. I worked at prog too, it’s the same sh– over there, they overwork and favoritism runs rampant, not too different fro Allstate but they do are doing much better and are more tech advanced and definitely more competent I the modern world, it’s probably better than this hellhole but it’s not sunshine and roses, but it’s better than Allstate
Nobody is saying that Progressive will be all sunshine and roses. Claims is claims–this type of work will always bring some sort of stress, so anybody looking for an easy time should find another line of work.
However, any sane person would ask that their employer does not give them a hard time about everything like Allstate has. And I'm not even talking about the discrepancy in pay. Allstate always makes some change to the claim handling process that actually makes the job more difficult than it needs to be.
For example, Progressive gives every adjuster their own login to Accurint so they can run searches on contact info, vehicles, and insurance, etc. when they need to. At Allstate, it would take up to a week just to get that info because only a few processors had access to Accurint, and the adjusters would have to request a search in a file note. If the processor messes up the search, then the adjuster would have to request another search. Imagine if that happens when you suddenly get a new file with a 3-day injury demand from an attorney, and you need some of that info for your coverage investigation. How ridiculously unnecessary is that long process? At Progressive, I could have all the info I would need in the time it took to type out this whole paragraph. How can Allstate expect their adjusters to work efficiently while bogging down the simplest processes along the way?
I don't expect Progressive to be perfect at all, and I'm sure I may find some problems with them down the line, but it certainly can't be any worse than Allstate. And that should be good enough for those who are still stuck at Allstate to jump ship to a company that is still expanding.
I’d be willing to put up with some corporate bs for a little more pay. Allstate doesn’t even try to be competitive with wages.
Their starting rate for claims, customer service, underwriting etc. is $15, you could go work at Target for that much now.
Sure Progressive pays more than Allstate. Who in the insurance industry doesn't? From my experiences with both companies the same corporate politics, same mistreatment of employees, same lack of transparency, and everything else you know and love from the good hands plagues Progressive as well. It just depends how much pay you are willing to accept swallowing what they give you to swallow. Everyone has a price I suppose.
I personally left Progressive to come to Allstate to get away from all that mess at Progressive only to realize and experience the same terrible things at Allstate. At least at Progressive I wouldn't have been laid off in the middle of a plague.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
They definitely pay more than I make in my current position after being with the company for 4 years. It may be worth a shot.
As someone who has worked for both Allstate and Progressive it is the same exact BS. The only difference is Progressive's top leadership is far more competent and not stuck in the past in regards to agents, 90's style tech, and 90's style insurance operations that Allstate is. If there were mass layoffs like Allstate had their layoff board would be filled with many of the same things. If you feel Progressive is some sort if Utopian alternative to the mess Allstate is then think again.
I also looked up Progressive on this website, and there doesn't seem to be much activity going on. It seems like once a year, someone brings up a topic of possible layoffs there, but there are no replies. It's amazing how much of a contrast there is between Progressive and Allstate. It's almost as if Progressive knows there are disgruntled Allstate employees and is poaching them constantly. Good for them. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for Allstate to stop treating their employees like c-ap.
Nah...I'm going to continue my not giving a f×××, doing the absolute bare minimum to keep my job (like most of my peers), all while doing all I can to pursade people to cancel their policies and stop doing business with this unethical company. All this while I wait for the almost certain eventual lay off that hits me where I get my 1 year severance pay and a few months of rest and relaxation.....then maybe I'll hit up Progressive.
