Are they still apart of Riverbed? Hows it going over there?

It would’ve been great to never have separate from Aternity. I suspect brining Aternity back in probably can’t happen for a multitude of reasons. One being business is terrible for both companies so increasing bottom line expenses doesn’t make sense. Politically, a few people ex-Aternity people are at Riverbed, I’m sure there’s going to be some hostility there. Lastly, APM is now being led by DT, AppD with other open tracing and SIEM vendors entering this space. So there’s no real room for an Aternity APM anymore. EUE for web apps is already instrumented in code by developers for free. Plus no one wants to be monitored by their company so there’s that aspect too.
I dunno, sometimes two negatives does make a positive. Easier to sell companies when there are fewer products and are cheaper
Another VP gone...the EMEA VP has walked.
They should just give up and come back to Riverbed. At least we’d have a differentiator.
There were cuts made. Anyone know how many? and what did the severance look like?
They really blew it last year on signing new over $200k customers and are shifting resources to focus on keeping the small accounts they have.
Based on job openings, it looos like Aternity is hiring but most look like back fill roles. Other roles seems to be non-contributing like middle management roles or roles to prevent additional departures (eg., ppl threatening leave if they’re not promoted).
Hiring, yes, but not in a meaningful way.
Hiring? really what positions? VPs, marketing managers and directors w/ no direct reports like Riverbed?
Actually hiring, want a job?
More cuts?
Aternity was hot tamales for a little while, but their tools aren’t so top-tier or special. We can advertise or call it whatever we want but let’s be honest...it’s not that special. It’s niche and use cases are very limited. MS doesn’t even know Riverbed is let alone Aternity.
Top tier like AVIcode was? or how about Vivaty, or how about the 20 other companys Microsoft has bought in the last two years.
can't believe someone actually think a microsoft aquisition is even remotely possible.
come on you'd need to be the top tier player in the area to even draw Microsoft's attention. they are not stupid.
Senior tenured folks are leaving, sales are slow. No CRO. Microsoft acquisition would be a blessing.
Aternity’s main PM left too, which does confirm Aternity is in trouble. I’m certain they’re looking for funding but VC’s aren’t investing in spyware-type of tools.
I know there were rumors about a year or so ago about MSFT buying Aternity. Just as fast as this rumor started, it also ended. At this point, I don’t think Aternity is strategic enough, perhaps a Dell or CA may buy them but it’ll be for cheap since their business is slow.
Or maybe an acquisition by Microsoft?
I heard it’s slow over at Aternity. I think the strategy there is a lot of hoping and relying one a few deals to drive momentum.
Based on backlash Microsoft received about their “productivity score” regarding WFH, I don’t see Aternity being sold for its core service. I think their tech is dead on arrival or will need to be re-positioned as some type of asset management or laptop monitoring tool.
