Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Thankful for the advice from colleagues

When I first started I was told to do 3 things. 1.) Grow my skill set. 2.) Develop & grow a network. 3.) Save for future impending layoffs.

I was pretty green at the time but I took the guidance from people who have been around the block a time or two. These are the three things I have lived by for a few years and when I got laid off in October I was so glad that I was prepared. I wish I could thank those who gave me this advice when I first started in this post but it would be against site policy. Still - I just want to say thank you.

This company is notorious for representing good faith and loyalty! Then when things get disrupted and revenue decreases and the market changes under their noses they panic and lay employees off. Word to future employees. Don’t trust any of them as they are all in it for themselves! Don’t make any sacrifices for this company EVER! They will throw you under the bus if you allow them to with Metrics and low reviews. Especially if you’re older and make a little money! You become a target for them as to them you just don’t rate it! C-ap! Run from this place don’t walk!
